Description
Hardly any other setting of "Panis Angelicus" achieved such great fame as the version by César Franck. Originally composed for Corpus Christi, Franck's composition now also serves as a popular standard repertoire at wedding celebrations and is also often played at Christmas time, detached from the liturgical context.
Raphael B. Meyer arranged the hymn for 8-part instrumental double choir (e.g. recorders, viols or modern strings) or mixed choir with four-part instrumental accompaniment. The second choir has been summarized in the score in a piano reduction. The piece can also be performed with just one choir (vocal or instrumental) and piano/organ accompaniment.
Recordings of all individual parts can be found in Download Area can be listened to. This makes practicing between ensemble rehearsals twice as much fun!
