Description
Originally composed for two transverse flutes, Clair-Nicolas Roget's duets can also be played superbly on treble recorders. The sonatas contained in this volume were arranged for two treble recorders according to the 18th century method of transposing thirds. Roget's music seems almost early classical with its sometimes strongly pronounced chromaticism. It seems as if the composer was a bit ahead of his time. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why the French composer may have stood in the shadow of other musical personalities during his lifetime, and as a result almost nothing is known about him today. With the two sonata collections Opus 1 and Opus 3 (also published by Basilisk Edition), only two works by Roget have survived.
