Description
Every Sunday afternoon, 21-year-old Edward Elgar (1857 - 1934) rehearsed with his brother and three friends in a garden shed behind his father's music store. He himself played the bassoon in the wind quintet known as “The Sunday Band”. Due to the atypical composition of the ensemble (consisting of 2 flutes, oboe, clarinet and bassoon), Elgar composed the pieces for his quintet himself, including Harmony Music No. 1.
Rüdiger Sperling arranged the lively piece for recorder quintet (SATBSb).
The arrangement is also ideal for recorder orchestras.
